About our practice

Rooted in compassion. Guided by meaningful change.

Choices International LLC is a 100% telehealth group mental health counseling practice founded by Laconya Reed, LPC, LCPC, MAC, CAC-AD, NCC. With more than 20 years of professional clinical service, her work focuses on healthier patterns of thinking, relating, and living.

CHI provides psychotherapy and therapeutic groups through qualified clinicians licensed and authorized in the client's state. CHI is not a crisis, residential, detoxification, or medication-prescribing service.

Our approach

A+ Stages of Change®

Created by Laconya Reed, the A+ framework combines reflection, cognitive restructuring, behavior practice, supportive accountability, and review of outcomes.

  • Awareness — identify old beliefs and thought themes
  • Acceptance — choose new beliefs and mindset
  • Action — practice behavior that matches new beliefs
  • Accountability — identify sources of support
  • Assessment — reflect on progress over 30/60/90 days

This framework may be incorporated into care when clinically appropriate; individual experiences and results vary.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started is simpler than you think.

Is counseling offered online?

Yes. CHI provides telehealth counseling. Services depend on clinician licensure and authorization in the state where you are physically located during the appointment.

Who can request services?

CHI serves adolescents ages 14 and older, adults, couples, and families, subject to clinical appropriateness and clinician availability. Parent or guardian participation and consent requirements for minors are evaluated under applicable law.

Do you accept insurance, Medicaid, or EAP referrals?

CHI works with participating commercial insurance, eligible Medicaid arrangements, self-pay, EAP benefits, and appropriately authorized veteran referrals. Benefits, panel status, coverage, clinician eligibility, and authorization must be verified before care.

How do I request an appointment?

New clients: select “New Client? Get Started” to send your information through CHI's secure SimplePractice form. Our team will contact you to confirm availability, verify insurance, and schedule your first appointment. Current clients: select “Request Counseling Appointment” and sign in to the Client Portal to request a time with your clinician. For questions, call 240-389-4685.

Are the men's and women's groups therapy?

The advertised Dump Your Junk™ groups are support groups facilitated by a support specialist. CHI's licensed clinicians separately offer psychotherapy and clinically indicated therapeutic groups.

Can an agency send CHI a referral?

Yes. We welcome referral partnerships. Please contact CHI to coordinate appropriate secure referral and intake procedures; do not send client medical information through ordinary email.
